So Many Good Books…

Christmas in July

There are some great books out today, including this one by contemporary romance author Debbie Mason.  Christmas in July is the second in her series set in the picturesque mountain town of Christmas, Colorado.  Debbie writes wonderful books that are funny, romantic, and heart-wrenching all at the same time.  This story is about a soldier returning home from the battlefield, and I assure you that you’ll shed more than a few tears!

What’s really cool is that Christmas in July is currently on sale for only $1.99 in digital.  You can download it from Amazon, B & N, and from the Apple Store.  Trust me – it’s a total bargain at that price!  And, of course, it’s available in print from most retailers.

Another book I’m excited about is Lady Windermere’s Fan, by Miranda Neville.  Miranda writes fantastic, smart, sexy historical romance, and I just know I’m going to love this book.  It’s definitely at the top of my TBR pile.

And isn’t that a fantastic cover?!  Check out Miranda’s website for details and buy links.

Finally, if you’re looking for something REALLY steamy, try out award-winning author Sharon Page’s new historical erotic romance, Deeply in You.  Sharon’s books just burn up the page and she always has the most interesting Regency settings, too.

Happy reading!

Guest Author: Miranda Neville & Giveaway!

I’m thrilled that my friend and acclaimed historical romance author Miranda Neville is on the blog with us today.  Miranda writes sexy and witty romances that are rich in history.  Her first book, Never Resist Temptation, was published in 2009 to great reviews, and with each book those fab accolades continue to roll in.  Take, for instance, The Wild Marquis, book one in her Burgundy Club Series.

This is the book that New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James called “sizzling, addictive, and deeply romantic…a joy to read.”

The Wild Marquis received a “Best of 2011” from Dear Author, and Top Picks from Romance Junkies and Night Owl Reviews.

“Filled with secrets, mystery, romance, sizzling love scenes, witty, realistic dialogue, an imaginative plot and charismatic characters, this lighthearted story is captivating.  A riveting novel, I hated to see it end.  Do not miss THE WILD MARQUIS.  It is a keeper!” — 5 ribbons, Romance Junkies

The fourth book in The Burgundy Club Series,Confessions from an Arranged Marriage is now in stores.

As you might guess, it’s already gotten great reviews, including this one from Romance Novel News:

“Fans of historical romance should not miss “Confessions from an Arranged Marriage.” Miranda Neville has crafted a magnificent story with a wonderfully emotional romance and a flawed, yet unforgettable hero. This is a story that will tug on the heartstrings, cause emotional heartbreak, but in the end satisfy on almost every level. “

And here’s the blurb:

They couldn’t be more different, but there’s one thing they agree on.

In London after a two-year exile, Lord Blakeney plans to cut a swathe through the bedchambers of the demimonde. Marriage is not on his agenda, especially to an annoying chit like Minerva Montrose, with her superior attitude and a tendency to get into trouble. And certainly the last man Minerva wants is Blake, a careless wastrel without a thought in his handsome head.

The heat and noise of her debutante ball give Minerva a migraine. Surely a moment’s rest could do no harm … until Blake mistakes her for another lady, leaving Minerva’s guests to catch them in a very compromising position. To her horror, the scandal will force them to do the unthinkable: marry. Their mutual loathing blazes into unexpected passion but Blake remains distant, desperate to hide a shameful secret. Minerva’s never been a woman to take things lying down, and she’ll let nothing stop her from winning his trust … and his heart.

I don’t know about you, but I love the theme of arranged marriages and marriages of convenience, and this one is sure to please.  And I love Miranda’s books.  If you like intelligent, sexy historical romance, I think you’ll love them too!

For my readers today, Miranda is giving away a copy of Confessions from an Arranged Marriage.  Let’s continue talking about this theme.  What’s your favorite marriage of convenience story, either historical, contemporary, or paranormal?  There are lots of good ones out there, so let’s start listing them!  One person who comments will win a copy of Miranda’s book.

Guest Author: Katharine Ashe & Giveaway!

One of my favorite historical authors is returning to the blog today.  She’s Katharine Ashe, and she writes passionate, exciting, character-driven romances.  Here’s what Katharine’s official bio says:

The American Library Association’s Booklist named Katharine Ashe among its “New Stars of Historical Romance.” She is a two-time nominee in the Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Awards, and her novella, A Lady’s Wish, launched Harper Collins Publishers’ e-book imprint, Avon Impulse, to rave reviews.

All this is very true, but I’ll tell you something else about Katharine–she’s smart and funny, and a lovely person to boot.  Can’t you just tell that from her picture?  I think she’s the bee’s knees, and if you’re not following her on Twitter or Facebook, you really should.

Katharine’s first book was Swept Away by a Kiss, which got rave reviews, including this one from RT Book Reviews:

TOP PICK!
“An incredible romance with enough sexual chemistry to singe your fingers. The characters are complex and highly sensual, the plot riveting and the backdrop vividly detailed. This is both a page-turner and a keeper.”

I bet you won’t be surprised to hear that Katharine’s subsequent books also received stellar reviews, right?  You can pop on over to her website to read some of those reviews, and to get the deets on each book, including excerpts.

Katharine’s readers (including me) are thrilled that she’s got a new series coming out, with the first book releasing this week. It’s called When A Scot Loves A Lady, and it kicks off her Falcon Club Series. Not surprisingly, it’s already getting great reviews:

FIVE QUILLS!
“A staggeringly intense love story… gripping, engaging, sublime… Ashe is a virtuoso… Her books are filled with an undeniable love, with arresting characters, and with plots that twist and turn, keeping a reader bound to the pages from beginning to end.”
— Romantic Crush Junkies

Isn’t that a beautiful cover?  Here’s the blurb for When A Scot Loves A Lady:

London gossips are asking: What use has society of an exclusive gentleman’s club if no gentlemen are ever seen to pass through its door?

After years as an agent of the secret Falcon Club, Lord Leam Blackwood knows it’s time to return home to Scotland. One temptation threatens his plans—Kitty Savege. The scandal-plagued lady warms his blood like a dram of fine whiskey. But a dangerous enemy stands in the way of desire, and to beat this foe Leam needs Kitty’s help…

Kitty never wanted to spend her holidays in a wretched country village! With snow up to the windows, escape is nowhere in sight. A roguish Scottish lord, however, is. His rough brogue sends tingles of heat from Kitty’s frigid toes to her chilled nose, but she’s confident she can withstand that. What she cannot control is the reaction of her carefully guarded heart when she discovers this beast is, in fact, no beast at all…

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?  There’s an excerpt of When A Scot Loves A Lady on Katharine’s website, along with lots of interesting extras.  And be sure to stop by Katharine’s wonderful group blog, The Ballroom Blog, which she hosts with other fabulous authors like Miranda Neville and Gaelen Foley.

For my readers today, Katharine is giving away a copy of When A Scot Loves A Lady.  Just tell me the title of one of your favorite historical romances, and why you love it.  One person who comments will win a copy of Katharine’s fabulous book!
