Regency Friday Fun and ARC Giveaway

My next Regency-set historical romance, My Favorite Countess, will be released from Kensington Zebra on May 3rd.  I’m very excited about this book, and it’s already been getting some great reviews.  It got a starred review from Booklist, and 4-1/2 stars from RT Book Reviews. You can read all about My Favorite Countess and take a look at the reviews on my website.

In advance of the book’s release, I’ve set up a Vanessa Kelly Author Page on Facebook. I do have a regular profile page, but the Author Page will be the go-to place for my book news, announcements, and contests.  I would be thrilled if you would visit my new page and “like” it.   As an added incentive, anyone who “likes” my Author Page today will be eligible to win an ARC (Advanced Reading Copy) of My Favorite Countess. Folks who have already “liked” my page this week are also eligible to win the ARC.

I only have a few of these ARCS left, so you don’t want to miss out on this!  Hope to see you on my Facebook page soon!

Gift Baskets Galore!

I normally try to blog three days a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Despite my best intentions I didn’t manage to do that yesterday, because I was too busy making up fabulous gift baskets for the First Coast Romance Writers mini-conference that’s happening this Saturday, March 12, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Okay, I have a confession to make.  I didn’t really make up those baskets; my uber-talented stepmother did.  I did buy all the candy and treats for the baskets, though, and made sure my stepmom was well supplied with high-test coffee while she worked.  As you can tell by the pictures, she does do great work.

Here’s the basket that contains a whole mess of books from Kensington Publishing.  My editor, John Scognamigio, very kindly contributed a box of books to the conference, and other generous Kensington authors like Kate Douglas, Susan Fox, Marilyn Brant, Diane Whiteside, and Elizabeth Amber all sent books.

It will be a lucky pup who wins that basket, I can tell you!

And here are the two baskets I’m contributing.

The basket on the left contains books donated by friends and some of my favorite authors, like Eloisa James and Courtney Milan.  The basket on the right contains my books, including Mastering The Marquess, Sex And The Single Earl, An Invitation To Sin, and also contains an Advanced Reader’s Copy of my upcoming May release, My Favorite Countess.

How do get your hands on one of these lovelies?  Easy!  Just go to the First Coast Romance Writers website and sign up for our mini-conference on Saturday.  Our featured speaker is the fabulous CL Wilson, and we’re also hosting pitches with Avon editor Tessa Woodward and literary agent Emmanuelle Morgen.  It’s going to be a great day!

Regency Friday Fun And Giveaway

On February 1, my novella will be released to the world!  It’s part of an anthology put out by Kensington Publishing called An Invitation To Sin, and it also contains stories by Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley.  My novella is called The Pleasure Of A Younger Lover, and you can read an excerpt here.  It’s the story of a war widow who’s shut herself off from the world, and the dedicated soldier determined to win her love.

Like a lot of writers, I sometimes imagine certain actors or actresses playing my characters.  It’s a fun way to help flesh out my hero and heroine’s physical characteristics, and also more fully imagine their personalities.  For the hero of my novella, Captain Christian Archer, there was only one choice I had in mind:  Sean Bean in Sharpe.

Seriously, what’s not to love?

And since it’s Friday Fun, I’m giving away a book.  This week it’s Promise Me Tonight, by the talented historical romance author, Sara Lindsey. Just comment and tell me which actors you would cast as heroes in your favorite historical romances.
