Why Do You Love Romance?

I’m taking part in READ-A-ROMANCE MONTH, a fabulous celebration of romance which features fun, moving, thoughtful blogs by romance authors on why they love the genre. Each post features giveaways, and some of those contests are still open to readers.

My post is up today, and I’m giving away two books, including Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard. Please stop by and join me for a chance to win!

Celebrating Romance With Readers!

Today marks the start of a month-long celebration of romance novels sponsored by Bobbi Dumas, who reviews for Kirkus and NPR.  She’s gathered together a stellar collection of romance writers like Kristan Higgins and Katharine Ashe to share their thoughts on the romance genre, why readers love it, and why it’s important.  In fact, Kristan and Katharine kick things off today with two short and very engaging essays on heroes and on how romance novels can spark revelations in the reader.  You really should check them out! Katharine and Kristan are both hosting contests too, so be sure to enter.

Just click here for Read-a-Romance Month’s homepage.

Speaking of great romances to read, Katharine’s new book, I Adored A Lord, is out this week.  She’s one of my favorite historical romance novelists, and her books are always at the top of my TBR list.  AND her book is currently on sale in digital for only $3.79, which is pretty darn amazing.  You’ll definitely want to check it out!

Happy reading!

T.E.A.M. Dog & Cat Rescue Fundraiser!

I am stupidly in love with animals, especially dogs and any sort of fuzzy little baby (and baby elephants, I might add).  Most of my charitable donations every year go to animal charities, especially in the event of a major disaster when the needs of animals–particularly farm animals that are often the sole support of families in the developing world–are often forgotten.

So I’m very happy to be part of a group of romance authors helping out T.E.A.M. Dog & Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal rescue charity based in Toronto, Canada.  This all-volunteer charity rescues at-risk animals and helps them find their forever homes.

T.E.A.M. is currently running a fantastic on-line auction Valentine’s Auction on facebook, with some wonderful auction items.  I’ve already made a financial donation and I’m also part of a fabulous book basket up for grabs, organized by the lovely historical romance writer, Lila DiPasqua.  100% of the money raised will go toward vet bills for the animals who’ve been rescued.  Check out the romance basket up for bid!

The basket is just one of the many great items donated for the auction.  So if you’d like to help our furry friends, please check out the Online Valentine’s Auction and consider placing a bid or simply making a donation to the charity.  Even better, why not make a bid on behalf of your sweetie–it’s a great way to show some love this Valentine’s Day!

You can find the auction here on facebook, and also check out the rules and regs for bidding (items can be shipped–you don’t have to live in the Toronto area).

The animals thank you!

Play Hard Now On Sale!!

Under my V.K. Sykes pen name, I’ve just published a contemporary romance anthology with two fabulous authors.  Play Hard is a three book bundle of sports romances, written by Juliana Stone, Jennifer Lyon, and moi.  And for a limited time, it’s only 99 cents!!

Each story revolves around a different sport and one sexy, uber-alpha hero–we’ve got baseball, hockey, and Mixed Martial Arts, so take your pick!  Play Hard is now on sale on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and All Romance e-Books.  It will soon be available in the iTunes store, too.

So, what are you waiting for?  It’s time to Play Hard!

Some Exciting News!!

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been invited to join an absolutely wonderful group of romance writers on their blog, The Sisterhood of the Jaunty Quills.  It’s one of the best group blogs in the romance blogosphere, counting uber-talented writers like Shana Galan, Kristin Higgins, Mia Marlowe, and Robyn DeHart among its members.

I’ll be blogging twice a month with the JQs, and I’ll be linking to JQ posts fairly frequently from now on–which is good news for my readers because those gals know how to have a good time!  The JQs also host guest visits from your favorite romance writers (with giveaways!), so you’re going to want to stop by on a regular basis.

In fact, why don’t you stop over right now and say hello!
