Romancing The Hop Blog Hop!!

Welcome to Romancing The Hop!  Over 100 authors and bloggers have banded together to share our favorite things about Romance.  We’re chatting about all the things we love about it, including our favorite romance novels, and even tips about dating and romantic getaways!  But what’s in it for you, the reader?  Well, we’re each doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 100 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.

But that’s not all….we have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 100 times!

Now what are those prizes?

1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet

2nd Grand Prize: A $130 Amazon or B&N Gift Card

3rd Grand Prize: The following Swag Pack!

Wow!  Great prizes, eh?  All that, and a really fun discussion about the things we love about romance and romance novels.  So let’s get started.

What’s my favorite thing about romance novels?  It’s simple.  I love how much fun they are.  When I read a good romance I’m reminded of that intense, glorious rush of falling in love—of knowing deep within you that this particular person is the one for you.  No matter how angst-ridden the story, no matter how many obstacles the author places in the path of the hero and heroine, you can enjoy the journey and remember yourself how truly wonderful it is to find your soul mate.

As for my favorite romance…I think I’d have to go with Lord of Scoundrels, by Loretta Chase.  There’s a reason why this book tops so many best romances lists.  It’s got a brainy, funny heroine, a tortured, uber-alpha hero, the wittiest dialogue this side of the Mississippi, and so much genuine heart and emotion it bring tears to your eyes.  Lord Dain is the best hero I’ve ever come across, and I never grow tired of re-reading this book!

So, dear reader, if you could bring only ONE book with you to a deserted island, what would it be?  One person who comments on my blog will win a $10 Amazon gift card and a copy of my Regency-set historical romance, Sex And The Single EarlThis book, which won the prestigious Maggie Award for Best Historical Romance, is currently only available in digital format, so I’m giving away one of the few print copies I have left.  Trust me when I tell you that Sex And The Single Earl is very difficult to find in print!

Commenting on my blog enters you in the grand prize draw, so remember to include your email address in the comment.  And be sure to visit all the other blogs in the hop too.  Not only will you discover some great authors and bloggers, you’ll be eligible for all sorts of prizes, including the grand prizes.  So start by leaving your comment on my blog, and then click here and start hopping away!

  1. Thanks for a very generous giveaway! What a hard choice… I think that I would take my omnibus copy of all of Jane Austin’s novels. One book, but many stories 🙂

    efender1(at)gmail(dot)com

    • That’s a hard choice, but I guess if I had to pick one book (besides my own — LOL), it would be “Gone With the Wind” Great blog — your books look great!

  2. I would pick Possession by A.S Byatt, it’s one of my favorite books & if I didn’t have it with me I would miss it for sure.

    lotsofgingers at hellokitty dot com

  3. My one book would have to be LONESOME DOVE by Larry McMurtry. Cowboys to keep me company.

I would love a print copy of SEX AND THE SINGLE EARL.

    marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com

  4. I loved Sex and the Single Earl. thank you Manchester CT library for getting it for me. I love these blogs and FB pages because they give me the opportunity to read authors I might not stumble upon on my own.

  5. I think I’d take my copy of Nalini Singh’s Angel’s Blood, I haven’t gotten tired of it yet and read it more then 8 times :D.

    alinutza4u2004(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk

  6. The thought of only having one book nearly kills me, but if I could only pick one it would be “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers. That may seem like an odd choice to some, but it’s one that I could read over and over, and never get tired of it.

  7. I can’t imagine living with only one book to read! If I really had to choose, it would be Charles Dickens, Great Expectations. Best. Book. Ever.

    jmsprecher at siouxvalley dot net

  8. What a great contest 🙂

It’s so hard picking only one book but if I really have to choose I would take About That Night by Julie James.

    redmoran1 AT gmail DOT com

  9. Only one!!!!! No Kindle! You’ve already picked my favourite, Lord of Scoundrels, I just love Jess and Dain. My second favourite is The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, yum.

  10. Great giveaway! Thanks!!! I consider my kindle a book but since I would have to have electricity to recharge it doesn’t seem feasible. So I would take the well-worn, huge selection of William Shakespeare; that way I would have a variety and enough to keep my mind working.

    penniemo2@gmail.com

  11. Hmmm, I wonder if there is a small, solar powered battery available to charge up my Kindle? But, I guess that wouldn’t really be an option. This is a hard question, but I think I’d still have to opt for my favorite book of all times, Gone with the Wind. I never get tired of watching the film or reading the book! Thanks for this giveaway too.

PS…I have a print copy of Sex and the Single Earl. Didn’t know they were so hard to find. Maybe I’ll try to sneak it along with GWTW to that desert island! LOL

  12. I think I would either take something by either Susan Elizabeth Philllips or J.R., not sure which title but I’m going to see it’d be between Nobody’s Baby But Mine and Lover Eternal.

    Monkeyxkilla(at)yahoo(dot)com

  13. WHHHAAAA only one? Ok, I’d take Centennial by James Mitchener because it’s really so many stories in one book.. Wonderful giveaway! Thanks!

  14. Just one book? That’s a tough one because I change my mind all the time… But I’ll probably go with The Princess Bride. 🙂

  15. I would bring Paradise by Judith McNaughrt It has everything I love about romance novels. I can literally read it over and over and not get sick of it.

  16. Pick one? Impossible for me. But – one that I constantly return to (and it’s not ‘romance’ per se ) is probably Game of Thrones by George RR Martin – it has everything.. romance, sex, murder, intrigue, dragons and wolves and magic, good and bad… the lot.

but really – I have about 4000 titles – some in many different forms – just because I love my books so much.

    thank you for participating..

    glhince@gmail.com

  17. I think it ate my comment – if it didn’t – please delete – I’m still caffeinating 🙂

my pick – if I HAD to take just one would be Game of Thrones.. it has everything I like in the books I read all joined into one. But I have too many (over 4000) titles in various formats – so a pick one is near impossible.

    thank you for participating —
    glhince@gmail.com

  18. Can i chose my Kindle? =D If i only could take one *grmbl mmbl* i´d have to say Karen Marie Moning´s Shadowfever. It´s the last one in a series of five but it was so great that i´ll remember the first four just by reading it.
But it would probably still be my Kindle, =) I don´t leave home without it.

    Best wishes & Happy Friday
    Linda
    fr_larsson at hotmail dot com

  19. Great contest, but hard decision. I love reading and can’t imagine having just one book. If I had to choose though, it would probably be the Thornbirds by Colleen McCullough. I just saw a post on this blog hop reminding me just how much I loved that book.

    kesummer69 at gmail dot com

  20. I started out with historicals and still love them, but i am into paranormal romance latley.Would have to say my one book I would take would be Even Vampires Get the Blues by Erin McCarthy,i love her sense of humor in her books.

  21. One book that is crazy. I probably would be practical and pick a survival guide of some kind. I’d need to those skills to get my butt off that island! =)

  22. That’s tough but I guess I would say Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I’ve read it 3 times and I just love it!

  23. I’d bring “How to Be a Domestic Goddess” by Nigella Lawson. (It’s a cookbook — I love how Nigella writes as though she is conversing with her readers.)

    ^_^

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

    khriscc (at) yahoo (dot) com

  24. you don’t really expect me to pick just one book! why — that qualifies as cruel & unusual punishment I’m sure! 😉 can’t we just invent a really good e-reader w/ a huge memory & a long lasting battery that recharges by solar power even while in use? think that’s what I’ll take (well loaded of course) 🙂

    pagalatheart(at) yahoo(dot) com

  25. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

I would take my dog earred copy of Mirror Image by Sandra Brown. I’ve read it so many times but can always read it again.

    ljberma01(at)gmail(dot)com

  26. Historical romance is my favorite genre so my pick would be One Perfect Rose by Mary Jo Putney.
I was an avid reader when younger, but after getting married, having a family and working I didn’t really read much until my husband retired and I quit my job. One Perfect Rose was the first book I picked up after that and I’ve been indulging in an orgy of reading since.
Love your book too, Vanessa. I read and enjoyed it very much.
    mcv111 at hotmail dot com

  27. This is just too hard! I guess I would have to choose Pride & Prejudice. Mr. Darcy was my first real hero. 🙂

    smwr324 (at) yahoo (dot) com

  28. I don’t know if I could pick my top favorite, but Lord of Scoundrels is definitely in my top 5 favorites. Also, Then Came You and Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas.

    Thanks for doing this giveaway!
    ~Krista
    pinkbonanza{ AT }gmail{ DOT }com

  29. For me, romance is all about the trust and respect built between the characters. Since I write BDSM, these elements are very important.
Thank you for participating in the blog hop!
    qwilliarain(at)gmail(dot)com

  30. What a great hop! Grand prizes, old friends to visit and new ones to meet… and chances to win at each stop too. I’m in Blog heaven! :-}

I’d take Shelly Laurenston’s “Beast Behaving Badly” or Judy May’s “Brianna”
Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.
    reneebennett35(at)yahoo(dot)com

  31. Not sure if i can pick just one but if i had to, you would have to put a pile of historical romances in front of me and i would have to pick a big fatty one with small print so it would last longer. I don’t think i have come across a historical romance i haven’t liked. Would love the chance to win this one. DevilAngel39 (at) aol (dot) com

  32. I will have to go with the first book that started my obsession with Karen Marie Moning, Beyond the Highland Mist. It’s not very often that I actually reread a book, but I have read all of her books over and over again. Will be doing so soon before her new book iced is released.

    sam1slim1@gmail.com

  33. Thanks for the awesome hop and giveaways! This is so much fun! Thank you! My favorite thing about romance is the romance. lol I love the characters, the plots, the HEA’s, the love. I love it all!
    shadowluvs2read(at)gmail(dot)com

  34. I always struggle with this question and to be honest, my answer is always kind of selfish. I would take some sort of omnibus. A book that while essentially is only one book had multiple stories in it. Of course, I have no idea, what omnibus that would be at this point.

    snhoveln(at)gmail(dot)com

  35. My one book to take with me would be At Grave’s End by Jeaniene Frost.

Thanks for the giveaway and for participating in the blog hop!

    chibipooh(at)gmail(dot)com

  36. It would be a Harry Potter book, because I totally love the series. Maybe The Goblet of Fire as it’s one of my favorites and it’s so thick that I could read it for a long time:)

    Thanks for the chance!

    spamscape [at] gmail [dot] com

  37. Only 1 book!! That is hard, I don’t think I would go to a deserted island if I could only have one book! But, since I have to choose, it would be Bad Moon Rising by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Thanks for joining the hop and for the awesome giveaway!
    ehaney578 at aol dot com

  38. How to get off a desert island for dummies, so I could get off the island and have access to all of my wonderful books. Sex and The Single Earl is the first book of your I ought and I still have it;-)

  39. Choosing one book is so difficult. However, I think I would take “Gone With The Wind.” I’ve read it a couple of time but the story is so epic that I think it would keep me busy reading for a little bit of time. When I’m finished and send up a smoke signal, could you airdrop some books from the Blog Hop to me? Thanks! 🙂

  40. Thanks for participating! Really like the hop so far!! I love reading, especially romance. I love reading contemporary, historical and erotic romance. I love the happy ending that is garenteed at the end. My favorite book is Lover Mine by JR Ward! I love John Matthew and Xhex. My favorite romantic moment was when my fiancé asked me to marry him! We meant two years ago right around when summer was ending! I think it is romantic when he brings me flowers because no one else has ever done it! My friend and I went out for our last big night out before classes started again. Thanks so much! Hope everyone else is having a great long weekend!!

    prettyunicorn78@yahoo.com

  41. My head would explode if I was told I could only bring one book with me – I just don’t usually read books over, there are way too many books that I haven’t read yet. I have no idea what book I could pick that I would want to read over and over again. 😀

  42. One book? hmm…survival guide? Bible? I will definitely be praying. To keep my mind alive, maybe The Complete Works of Shakespeare.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    winnie968 at yahoo dot com

  43. What a hard question to answer. I have so many that I love. If I have to choose one I would go with Outlander from Diana Gabaldon. That was my first.
    mel
    bournmelissa at hotmail dot com

  44. That’s a really hard question. I would bring either Outlander by Diana Gabaldon or Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire.
molly dot frenzel at gmail dot com

  45. Thanks for being a part of the hop. I hope that you have a great labor day weekend! Only bringing one book on a deserted island is a difficult choice. it would all depend on my mood but I think that I’d lean more towards Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston because it would give me the romance, funny and shifter.
    jessangil at gmail dot com

  46. Hmmm…I think I would actually have to go with Lolita. It is written so beautifully and with such a magical use of language, I don’t think I could ever grow tired of the story or the way it’s told. If I could have the audio book read by Jeremy Irons, as well, I’d be a very happy castaway…

  47. Tough question, my ebook reader? lol. Well since it most likely would have to be a paperback I’d hae to pick Getting Rid of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie.
Thank you for being part of the blog hop and for the giveaway. 🙂

    yazmin.z.rangel(at)gmail(dot)com

  48. I would take After Dark With a Scoundrel by Alexandra Hawkins. I love that book from the Lords of Vice series. I think I have that book the most.

    countessofmar(at)yahoo(dot)com

  49. If I had to choose one book, that would be very hard, but it would have to be Saving Grace by Julie Garwood. Her characters come to life for me and her dialogue is witty and charming. Her heroes are masculine and loyal in a way that makes me want to know them. I do have to say that in doing this blogging, I have a new list of books to look up and read! Can’t wait!

  50. Like everyone else, choosing one book is next to impossible. I may have to go with something by Maya Banks….Never Love a Highlander had me in Tears. Or maybe Lexi George because her Demon Hunting in Dixie made me laugh and I made need humor on a deserted island. Argh! It’s just to hard to pick!

  51. I’d take the Jeeves omnibus. Can’t beat P. G. Wodehouse!

I’m not surprise that SEX AND THE SINGLE EARL is so rare: that hot Paul Marron cover!

    cgnemesis [at] yahoo [dot] com

  52. So many choices. Wow! Oh man. I know I SHOULD say something like one of those Girl Scout guide books that tells you how to survive anywhere or Bear Grylls or something but I have to say my most favourite book(s) would have to be… I cannot choose. It really depends on my mood! Valley of the Horses by Jean Auel or Katherine by Anya Seton or Outlaw Viking by Sandra Hill or how about any one of yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. ‘Outlander’ by Diana Gabaldon – because I have read it a few times already, and it is so long that it would take more a lot of time to re-read it over and over!

    jochibi AT yahoo DOT com

  54. That is the hardest question ever! However, I will say (for now) “The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie” by Jennifer Ashley. Ian is just so beautiful.

  55. Instead of just one book, how about my Kindle with unlimited battery? No? Okay, I’d have to pick Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy. It is one of my all time favorites. There are so many wonderful characters in the book that if I get bored with one, I can switch and follow another character instead. 🙂

    – Crystal (CrysTvsky@hotmail.com)

  56. Man that is difficult cause I can devour a book in a day and depending on the length of time and if there some sort power (nook if that is possible)…
    Great blog hop
    BeckeyWhiteATgmailDOTcom

  57. one book… can that be a fully loaded Kindle? ok I’m totally hooked on Game of Thrones and I’d like to pick the next book yet to be released. I’m hoping that the conclusion of the series will bring out some romance in the ending

  58. I have so many favorites had to pick one I will say JR Wards book with bella and Z! Thank you for the great giveaway!
    tishajean@ charter

  59. I actually have this book on my wishlist and the cover is so sexy 😉 There is no way I can pick a favorite book, I will have to cheat and say my Kindle because it has so many different books on it.
    Thanks for the giveaway: 🙂
    June
    manning_j2004 at yahoo dot com

  60. So…only one book? How about my Kindle?? Then there is the issue with electricity. Hehe. Okay, if I had to choose just one, I would pick Tempted by Elisabeth Naughton. I absolutely love Demetrius and Isadora! Thank you for the great giveaway and suggestion. 🙂
    trb0917 at gmail.com

  61. If I could only bring one book with me to a deserted island it would be Valley of Silence book 3 of Nora Roberts Circle trilogy. I love it!

  62. Just one??? Ok, I’m going to go with “The Promise” by Danielle Steele. It was the first book read back in the late 70s. I was in high school, freshman or sophmore & I have been hooked on reading ever since. Thanks for being part of this awesome hop!
    JessieL62@comcast.net

  63. Do I have to pick one or can I cheat? It would be a toss up between Devil’s Bride which got me back into reading romances or Naked in Death because I just love that book. Cheating would mean bringing both, or my kindle or the boxed set of the first three Eve Dallas books. Thanks, Vanessa.
