I’ve had one of those weeks. You know, the kind that makes you want to eat copious amounts of chocolate or crack open the whiskey bottle. When that I happens, I know it’s time to retreat between the pages of a good book – and hopefully a funny one. Today’s featured author is just the ticket for a fun read. She’s Marcia James, and she writes hot and humorous romances. That’s Marcia at the top of the page, with her Chinese Crested hairless dog. They both look pretty cute, don’t they? And fun!
Marcia, as you can probably surmise, loves dogs. That love is evident in her participation in the Lori Foster anthology, Tails of Love.
This multi-author collection contains 10 new stories by award-winning and best-selling authors, of which Marcia is one. The stories got great reviews, and explored the many wonderful ways that animals bring joy and love into our lives. Even better, all the royalties went to a no-kill animal shelter. How cool is that?
Marcia’s other books, including At Her Command, have also gotten great reviews. You can check them out on her website, along with her contest info and excerpts.
What has Marcia been up to lately? Her latest book is out, and it sounds fun and fab. It’s called Sex and the Single Therapist, and it’s available as a digital release from Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes & Noble.
And as an author with a book called Sex And The Single Earl, how could I not love that title? Here’s the blurb for Sex and the Single Therapist:
A crime of passion…
To clear an innocent friend, Las Vegas sex therapist Dr. Ally Skye launches her own investigation into a patient’s murder. The last thing she expects is to find herself trading heated words and hot kisses with a sexy cop. Can this free-spirited amateur sleuth and her posse of Vegas insiders solve the crime before the killer targets her?
A sexy complication…
Cynical homicide detective Zack Crawford has the murder of a tom-catting cad to solve and a grieving widow to investigate. The last thing he needs is the interference of a red-hot sex therapist who haunts his dreams. Ally is trouble, and he’s determined not to risk his bachelor freedom for any woman. Besides, given her job, would she grade his performance in bed?
A dynamic duo…
In their search for the truth, Zack and Ally form an uneasy and sexually charged alliance. Murderers, extortionists and psychos are no match for these reluctant partners. Crime-solving was never this sexy or this fun!
Sounds delicious! Check out the excerpt on Marcia’s website, and also stop by the Sex Q & A page. Dr. Ally is handing out some free advice!
For my readers today, Marcia is giving away a copy of her book, At Her Command. Let’s keep talking about comedy. What’s your favorite romantic comedy movie, TV show, or book? One person who comments will win a copy of At Her Command.
I watched THE HOLIDAY with Kate Winslet not too long ago & I loved it. I laughed & cried to my hearts content.
That’s what you want, Mary!
I soooo miss the Carol Burnett Show… the skits were just wonderful and funny!!
I loved her show too, Cate. And here’s something funny. I actually babysat for Tim Conway’s and Harvey Korman’s kids. We were holidaying down the Jersey shore and they were staying with friends, and needed a babysitter!
Hi, Vanessa! Thanks for featuring me on your blog! Your SEX & THE SINGLE EARL is in my To Be Read pile, and it caught my eye because of the title. 😉
I always enjoyed the black-and-white screwball comedies from the 1930s – 1940s. BRINGING UP BABY with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant is one of my favorites, and I enjoyed the 1970s “homage” to the film, titled WHAT’S UP, DOC?
I look forward to reading what romantic comedy movies, TV shows, and books your blog visitors enjoy.
— Marcia 😉
Hi Marcia! Great to have you on the blog! I looovvvve Bringing Up Baby. One of the funniest movies ever made.
My favorite romantic comedy of all time is “When Harry Met Sally”. Some of the dialogue is now classic. And of course the restraunt scene about a woman’s orgasm is probably the all time best!! Loved the movie and could watch it over and over.
A true classic!
I would have to say clueless. Still think it’s hilarious after all these yrs…
Yes! Another one of my favorites!
The most fun movie to me was “When Harry Meet Sally”. I still enjoy watching the movie. I laughed and I cried.
I have a feeling this one is high on a lot of people’s lists!
It’s very hard to pick just one movie.
I happen to keep track of my favorites and I do watch them over and over.
I LOVE my movies! LOL!!
I am totally in heaven when I watch any of these…..
The Wedding Singer, French Kiss, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Fools Rush In and Kate & Leopold.
My other favs are a bit older, but wonderful to watch over and over and over…..Bringing Up Baby and His Girl Friday.
You can never go wrong with Cary Grant. 😀
Dalila, Cary Grant is gold!
I left a comment earlier, but it’s not showing up on my computer, so I hope you don’t mind if I repeat myself. 😉
Thank you to Vanessa for featuring me on her blog today!
My favorite movies tend to be screwball comedies from the 1930s and 1940s. One of the best is Bringing Up Baby. {{waving to Dalila, a fellow fan of the movie!}} Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn — what a great match-up.
— Marcia James 😉
Hi Marcia! **waving**
Isn’t Cary Grant the best!
Really likin’ the picture of you and your poochie!
Thanks for visiting with us today!
One of my favorite is An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. I also love Casa Blanca, but there are a ton of fun movies from the last 30 years that leave a smile on my face and warm my heart.
There are tons of great romantic comedies out there – too many to watch!
I like Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Return to me. One of my favorite romantic funny movie. So sweet.
Thanks again, Vanessa! And congratulations to my e-book winner, bn100! I’ll email you right now to see what e-book format your would like.
