I don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood for something paranormal – maybe something sexy, dark, and intense. And I think I’d like a vampire or two thrown in for a good measure. Luckily for me – and my readers – today’s guest author writes paranormal romances that certainly fit the bill. She’s Laurie London, the acclaimed author of the Sweetblood Series from HQN.
Laurie’s debut book, Bonded by Blood, came out in February 2011 to great reviews, including this one from Publisher’s Weekly: “Paranormal romance gets a sexy addition with London’s sizzling series debut.”
And here’s what New York Times bestselling author Cherry Adair has to say about the Sweetblood Series: “Laurie London’s Sweetblood world is dark and sinfully sexy–I’m totally addicted.”
Sounds good to me! And I love the premise for the series:
Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, two vampire coalitions battle for supremacy–Guardian enforcers who safeguard humanity and Darkbloods, rogues who kill like their ancient ancestors.
Laurie’s second book in the series was Embraced by Blood, which also got great reviews:
Embraced by Blood is an enticingly seductive read that will leave you enthralled! – Joyfully Reviewed, Recommended Read
And now the third book in the Sweetblood world is on the shelves, and Tempted by Blood sounds just as dark, sexy, and enticing as the first two books in the series.
Here’s the blurb for Tempted by Blood:
He might be known for his effortless charm, but Guardian Jackson Foss is hiding a terrible secret. For months, he has battled the emergence of his dark nature—deadly urges that threaten to consume him. And those cravings only intensify when he meets Arianna Wells, the human he’s been assigned to protect. Smart and perceptive, Arianna doesn’t seem like a dangerous temptress. Yet she awakens in Jackson an unstoppable need that, if left unchecked, will brand him a traitor…a crime punishable by death.
But soon their bond may be Arianna’s only hope. For stalking her in the shadows is a merciless enemy—one who will stop at nothing to claim her completely….
Yum! If you like sexy vampires, then I think you’re going to love Laurie’s latest book. Be sure to stop by her website to read an excerpt and to get all the details on the Sweetblood Series.
For my readers today, Laurie is giving away a copy of Tempted by Blood. Let’s talk vampires – what’s your favorite vamp TV show, movie, or book? Do you love vamps, or do you think they belong in the camp of the bad guys? One person who comments will win Laurie’s book.
My favorite TV show would have to be True Blood, fave movie would have to be Interview with a Vampire, and my fave book… I honestly couldn’t choose only one, or even a whole series! So many great books out there, and so many new-to-me authors to read =)
I still haven’t watched True Blood, I’m ashamed to say. I think a date with NetFlix is in my future.
Hi Emily, I love True Blood too!!! I have a massive fangirl crush on Eric. Can’t wait for the new season to start.
Hi Laurie,
i really love reading vamp’s book and my fave vamp book are twilight saga by stephanie meyer, night hunter series by jeaniene frost and guardian of eternity by alexandra ivy.
looking forward to read your book 😉
Great authors, Eli!
Yes, those are awesome series!
I love vampires! There are many book series that are auto-buys for me, including Lynsay Sands & Kerrelyn Sparks, Katie MacAlister’s series. I am also reading/trying to catch up on the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian and the BDB series by JR Ward.
As for movies, I loved The Lost Boys and Interview With a Vampire, as well as others.
I am very eager to read this new book by Ms. London. I have the first two and would love to have an autographed copy of this one.
June, I’d forgotten about The Lost Boys. I loved that movie!
Hi June, those are great vampire series. So thrilled you have the first two Sweetblood books!
Hi Laurie. Your books sound great. My favorite vampire movies are the Underworld series.
Underworld movies are a lot of fun!
Thanks, Crystal!
I love a good Paranormal book. They are not my main read, but when I do read them I always enjoy them. My favorite is Lora Leigh. The Breed Series. These books look like something I would enjoy. Thanks for the giveaway.
Mary, that’s another series I’ve been meaning to try.
Hi Mary, I’ve not read that series yet but I’ve heard such good things about it.
Oddly enough, I have never watched True Blood on television, either – go figure! LOL – but I LOVE my paranormal vampire stories! Since my introduction to the Black Dagger Brotherhood stories a few years ago, I completely “fell in love” with the whole paranormal genre. I definitely need to check these books out – and I LOVE the covers!
The BDB is pretty grand, isn’t it?
I love that series too!
I love vamps and yes, some are bad guys and some are good guys just like any other population. My favorite TV vamp show is The Vampire Diaries (no, Ian has nothing to do with it – RIGHT :))
Book wise I love so many but my latest love is Laura Wrights series. Those guys are HOTTTTTT!
Thanks for the giveaway.
Oh, I love Ian!
It’s those eyes!!!
Wow, another author I have to check out, those books sound interesting.
Vampires are my favorite beings in the paranormal genre and of course I have favorite series. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood and also the Midnight Breeds.
In series or movies I like True Blood, Interview with a vampire and of course Twilight.
No votes for Spike or Angel, yet!
Hm, I loved the original Buffy movie but I refused to watch the TV series. My favorite vampire, aside from the original Dracula by Bram Stoker, is played by George Hamilton in “Love at First Bite” – the most tanned actor in history as the sun-shunning undead.
That movie was hilarious, infinitieh! I loved that they cast George Hamilton.
My favorite vampire show is a tie between True Blood and The Vampire Diaries, my favorite Vampire movie is Twilight, and my favorite vampire book is, again, Twilight, because it sucked me into the world of reading paranormals 🙂
Chelsea, I think Twilight was the gateway drug to paranormals for a lot of readers!
My favorite vamp tv show is The Vampire Diaries. I was a HUGE fan of the books and I am obsessed with the tv show. My favorite book is Lover Awakened by JR Ward. I have such a soft spot for Zsadist.
Danielle, I think lots of us have a soft spot for Zsadist!
I like True Blood. Your books sound very good.
True Blood seems to be leading the pack!
I loved Buffy and the spinoff, Angel. I liked Angel but preferred his evil alter ego, Angelus. I adored Spike. I can’t resist a cheeky bastard.
Stacie, Spike still remains my favorite vamp!
hmmm I don’t think i have watched any vampire tv shows. I tried watching Vampire diaries but didn’t care for it. Movies?? I liked the Underworld movies? The Twilight movies are ok. They seems to get a bit better with each movie. lol Books i would say The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward and The Dark series by Christine Feehan are two of my favorites. I’m ready for a new vampire series i think though. *wink* lol
Lisa B
Lisa, sounds like you need to try Laurie’s series!
Laurie’s covers are HOT! Fave TV vamp–Spike from Buffy. Loved his humor and accent.
I’m with you, Terri!
Oh my goodness. There are soooo many vampire shows, books, etc that I could mention. I know I need to read the BDB series. My friends are about to lynch me for not reading them yet. ACK! The most recent vampire books I have read are Sierra Dean’s Secret McQueen series. Chick packs a punch in her books. Secret is half vampire, half werewolf. Makes for very interesting complications. 🙂 TV show? Not so much into the new ones. I have always loved Buffy and Angel. Movies? Hmmm … Twilight? Meh. Underworld? Fabulous! And I will always love The Lost Boys. It is the movie that started my love for vampires. 🙂
Congratulations on the release, Laurie! Can’t wait until I get a chance to read Jackson’s story. 🙂
Kendra
Kendra, I loved The Lost Boys. But the show that got me started on vamps was the original Dark Shadows. Yes, that dates me, but I was very young when it aired!
Oh, I remember Dark Shadows too! Very creepy.
Angel for favorite TV vamp and Spike is #2. Kristoff from Katie Mac’s Dark Ones is probably my fav from books. thanks for the contest. lisagk(at)yahoo(dot)com
Lisa, I haven’t read Katie Mac’s Dark Ones. I’ll have to check them out.
My favorite shows on vampires are Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Vampire’s Dairies and Dark Shadow. Dark Shadow is a very old classic vampire show with voodoo.
Yay! Another Dark Shadows fan!
My favorite vamp book is a series – Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. I love vampires and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of them. There are so many variations out there, I love it when an author comes up with a new twist on the mythos.
It’s amazing how creative writers have been in developing new takes on vampires. Laurie has definitely done that, too.
Thanks for all the great comments!
