Most of you know that I usually feature authors who write historical romance. Today I thought I’d mix it up a bit. If you haven’t yet read her, I’d like to introduce you to Elisabeth Naughton, who writes sexy, globe-trotting romantic suspense and dark, seductive paranormal romance. She already has one romantic suspense series in the stores – the Stolen Trilogy – which revolves around an antiquities gallery in Miami. These books will definitely appeal to fans of Romancing The Stone and Indiana Jones, and what’s not to love about that?
The Stolen books have garnered fantastic reviews, including this one from the prestigious Chicago Tribune: “Naughton deftly distills deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion into a perfectly constructed novel of romantic suspense.”
Elisabeth’s latest story is now in stores. It’s a novella called Acapulco Heat in the anthology, Bodyguards In Bed. Is that not a most excellent title? It sure makes me want to run right out and buy it! Here’s the blurb for Acapulco Heat:
Sun, sand, skin and plenty of sex. That’s the name of the game in beautiful Acapulco.
Bodyguard Finn Tiernay’s new gig in the sultry city is nothing short of perfect. Too bad he can’t stand it. Hired to protect supermodel Lauren Kauffman during her very public, very sexy cosmetic shoot on the beach, Finn’s itching for a serious assignment and the chance to get away from the hot bod who’s set her sights set on him. Their mutual attraction has been brewing for some time, but he’s got no use for the super wealthy, isn’t about to become another diva’s boy toy. His no-fun-at-work motto might get him booted out of her bed, but when danger strikes, she won’t be able to shake him. And when he discovers things aren’t what they seem and that she’s more than a pretty face and smokin’ body, all bets are off. Lauren Kauffman’s about to take Finn for a ride he never saw coming. And there’s no telling who will survive.
You can read an excerpt from the novella on Elisabeth’s website.
The first book in Elisabeth’s new paranormal series, The Eternal Guardians, will be out in September. It looks awesome, so I’ll be sure to feature it in a few months.
Bodyguards In Bed and Elisabeth’s previous books are all in bookstores or available at on-line retailers like Amazon. To help Elisabeth celebrate the release of her novella, I’ll be giving away a copy of Bodyguards In Bed. Just tell me what kind of romantic suspense you like to read – do you like stories with hot FBI agents and serial killers, police procedurals, or ordinary men and women caught up in dangerous situations? Feel free to tell me your fave romantic suspense writers, too. One person who comments will win a copy of the anthology.
I enjoy stories with FBI agents or retired Special Ops agents or Navy Seals. Having someone protect the heroine that is so highly trained is very impressive and exciting. The bodyguard starts out with total focus on the mission but gradually he falls for the client. I like to see how the need to protect her goes from professional to personal.
Stacie, that is exactly the kind of story I love, too!
Thanks so much for sharing my book, Vanessa!
Hi Stacie!
I love that professional to personal transition too. The internal conflict in that is fun to watch.
Thanks for stopping by!
I love both – Hot FBI agents in a page turning suspense..and ordinary people caught in dangerous situations! I think the urgency and the breathtaking moments of suspense is a great background for romance 🙂
And on a series/ book, I love Kylie Brant’s Mindhunter series!
Thanks for the fab giveaway. Count me in. judimello AT gmail DOT com
Ju, I’ll have to check out Kylie Brant. Thanks for the tip!
Ju – I’m with you. I love a good romantic suspense featuring ordinary people caught in dangerous and UNordinary situations.
Thanks for the comment!
I love cops and their chase for the bad guy. I also love when the woman is a damsel in distress! I have read the stolen series and loved all three books!
Hi Sherie…I’m so glad you enjoyed the Stolen Books! I hope you enjoy Acapulco Heat just as much.
Sherie, Elisabeth is great, isn’t she?
I like them all. As long as their character is well developed I’m set.
Yes, I think sometimes strong character development can be overtaken by the action in romantic suspense, but it’s essential – as it is with any good book!
I’m with you (and Vanessa). As long as the characterization is strong, as a reader I can believe just about anything. 🙂
I love military romance, especially Special Ops, romantic suspenses and FBI/serial killers/missing persons RS the best. It has to do with my addiction to similar TV shows.
A few of my fave RS authors are:
Shannon McKenna (scorching hot books too!)
Cindy Gerard
Laura Griffin
Stephanie Tyler
Maya Banks
Thanks for the giveaway!
Hugs,
Pearl
Thanks for stopping by, Pearl! And thanks for the great list!
Pearl – there are definitely plenty of suspense/thriller shows on TV. My daughter is addicted to NCIS and my critique partner can’t miss an episode of Criminal Minds. They’ve both sucked me in to their obsessions.
I had been reading many rom suspense books for a while but stopped. Right now, I’m in the middle of Janelle Denison’s “Into The Night”, leaving the poor hero and heroine in a clinch against his living room wall for a week now. *sigh* Maybe I’ll finish reading it after “My Favorite Countess”.
By the way, I love the Eternal Guardians series!
Oh, definitely read MFC first!!
Infinitieh – I often leave my characters in that situation and go work on something else. (They hate me for it. LOL)
And thanks for letting me know you’re loving the Eternal Guardians! I just turned in ENRAPTURED (book 4) today and I can’t wait until readers can get their hands on TEMPTED. Only a few more months!
Thanks for stopping by!
I like pretty much any kind, but I guess I prefer ordinary men and women in dangerous situations.
Some of my favs are
Catherine Coulter
Mariah Stewart
Julie Garwood
Can’t think of any more right off the top of my head. It’s been a long day lol.
Betty, that’s a great list!
Another vote for ordinary characters in extraordinary situations. I love that too!
Thanks for stopping by, Betty!
Just about any story plot as long as the book is great! Simple but true 😀
Very true, Amy!
Simple works every time, Amy. Thanks for the comment!
Ohh, hot FBI agents! Yes! 8) 😉
Ditto, Chelsea! Mulder still ranks right up there as my favorite FBI agent. 😉
I love all kind of romantic suspense. All that sexy men, LOL! But esp the story about police and FBI agent 🙂
My favorite romantic suspense is J.D.Robb (she created my everlasting favorite hero forever, LOL) and Linda Howard. But this year, I read I-Team series by Pamela Clare, and she definitely became my favorite author too 😉
Ren, Pamela Clare is on my TBR list. I’ve heard great things about her.
Elisabeth, thank you so much for stopping by and for donating the book for the giveaway. It sounds absolutely fantastic, and I can’t wait to read it!
I really like your writing style, wonderful info , appreciate it for putting up : D.
I like your writing style really enjoying this website. “Let me leap out of the frying-pan into the fire or, out of God’s blessing into the warm sun.” by Miguel de Cervantes.
Very interesting topic, appreciate it for posting.
