Holiday Gifts of Love Blog Hop!!

It’s a Happy Holidays blog hop from your favorite Authors and Bloggers! While we know that everyone celebrates in different ways during this season, we wanted to show you guys how much we appreciate your support. So from Dec 14th to Dec 17th, all 200 or so of us will be blogging about the holidays and what they mean to us, and we want to hear what they  mean to you!

And while we do that, we are EACH doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 200 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.

But that’s not all….

We have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 200 times!

Now what are those prizes?

1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet

2nd Grand Prize: A $200 Amazon or B&N Gift Card

3rd Grand Prize: A Swag Pack that contains paperbacks, ebooks, 50+ bookmarks, cover flats, magnets, pens, coffee cozies, and more! (U.S. giveaway only)

I’m also giving away a great prize right here on my blog:  a copy of my holiday historical romance, His Mistletoe Bride, and copy of my latest VK Sykes contemporary romance, Bigger Than Beckham, AND a $10 Amazon gift card.

Wow!  What’s not to love about this blog hop?!

So what do I love about my favorite holiday, Christmas?  A lot of things, but I really enjoy the beauty of the season that comes from all the wonderful decorations.  Nothing says Christmas to me like a big tree covered with glittering ornaments and twinkling lights.

When I was a kid, my family took great pride in having the biggest tree in the neighborhood.  My mother had boxes and boxes of glass ornaments – the real thing – that she carefully unpacked each year and helped us to hang on the tree.  To this day, decorating the tree is one of my favorite parts of the holidays.

And there’s nothing like a gorgeous wreath to make things festive, too!

So pretty!

What about you, folks?  Do you have any special decorations you put up to help you celebrate the holidays, whatever that holiday might be at this time of year?  One person who comments will win my giveaway of two books and a gift card, and you’ll also be entered to win the grand prizes, too!  Please be sure to include your email in your comment so you’ll be eligible for one of the grand prizes.

And once you’ve left a comment below, click on this link or the picture at the top of the blog and hop away to all the other great blogs in the Gifts of Love Holiday Blog Hop!  And for more info about my latest Regency-set historical romance, His Mistletoe Bride, please visit my books page to read an excerpt and the blurb.

Happy Holidays!

We Have A Winner!

The winner of my Holiday Cook Blog Hop giveaway of His Mistletoe Bride is Brandy Bosquez.  Congratulations!  I’ll be in touch.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by to talk about favorite holiday cookies.  There’s more good stuff going on this month on my blog, including visits from authors like Robyn DeHart and Mia Marlowe, plus some more great blog hops.  Be sure to stop back and join the fun!

Holiday Cookie Blog Hop!!

Welcome to the Holiday Delights Cookie Blog Hop, in honor of National Cookie Day and the wonderful books you can read while you’re eating them!  I didn’t know there even was a National Cookie Day, but you can bet I’m going to celebrate it from now on.

And what better way to eat cookies than while reading holiday-themed romances!  Thirty or so romance authors, led by the fabulous Jessa Slade, are sharing their favorite recipes and dishing about their latest holiday-themed books.  The list of authors is at the end of this blog, so make sure you check them out after you’ve spent a little time drooling over my recipe.  I guarantee that by the end of the day you’ll have some great recipes, and maybe even walk away with a few new books to read.

My contribution to Cookie Day comes from my mother’s vault of recipes.  Mom was a wonderful baker, and she spent weeks before the holidays putting up tins and tins of cookies in the freezer.  The following recipe was always my favorite – Swedish Tea Balls.  Easy to make, and oh-so-good!

Swedish Tea Balls

1 cup butter

1/4 cup sifted powdered or confectioner’s sugar (10X)

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 tablespoon water

2 cups flour

1 cup chopped pecans

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla.  Stir in the water.  Add flour and mix.  Stir in nuts.  Roll into one inch balls and baked on an ungreased cookie sheet for twenty minutes at 300 degrees.  Cool before removing from pan, then roll in frosting.

Frosting

4 cups icing sugar (4X)

1/2 cup milk

Blend sugar with milk to achieve a smooth consistency.  When cookies are cool, roll in frosting then set on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry.

Easy peasy, and delicious!

And what will go wonderfully with my cookies and perhaps a cup of tea?  My latest Regency-set historical romance, that’s what!  Here’s the blurb for His Mistletoe Bride:

BLAME IT ON THE MISTLETOE…

When Major Lucas Stanton inherited his earldom, he never dreamed his property would include the previous earl’s granddaughter. Phoebe Linville is a sparkling American beauty, yes, but with a talent for getting into trouble. Witness the compromising position that forced them into wedlock. Whisked away to Mistletoe Manor, his country estate, it isn’t long before she is challenging his rules—and surprising him in and out of bed…

Phoebe has no intention of bowing to Lucas’s stubbornness even though he offers all that she wants. His kisses and unexpected warmth are enticing, but Phoebe is determined to show the Earl of Merritt what real love is all about. And if that takes twelve nights of delicious seduction by a roaring fire, she’s more than willing to reveal her gifts very slowly…

I’m happy to say that His Mistletoe Bride has gotten great reviews, and spent one month on the Amazon bestseller list for historical romance.  To read an excerpt and for buy links, check out my books page.

I’m giving away a copy of His Mistletoe Bride to one person who comments today.  Just tell me what your favorite cookie recipe is for a chance to win.  Then check out the links to the authors below, and start hopping away!

Good luck, and have fun!

As you can tell from that luscious header, the theme of our blog hop is Heating Up The Holidays.  And how are we going to heat up our holidays, you might ask?  I’ll tell you–with sexy men!

It so happens that I have a holiday-themed historical romance that came out in October.  The hero of His Mistletoe Bride, Lucas Stanton, the Earl of Merritt, is definitely one sexy dude.  And it was easy to create him that way because I used a very inspiring template for his character–the drop-dead gorgeous actor, Henry Cavill.

Nice, eh?  My heroine, Phoebe Linville, thinks so too.  Phoebe isn’t very experienced when it comes to men.  After all, she was raised in a small Quaker village in America.  But when she lays eyes on Lucas for the first time she feels a tingle in places that she didn’t even know could tingle!  Lucas certainly heats up her holidays, and if I ever ran into Henry Cavill while Christmas shopping…well, I better stop there or I’ll get in trouble with my husband.

To read an excerpt of His Mistletoe Bride and to get a peek at my hero, Lucas, visit my books page.

I also have another new book out with a hero who heats things up in a big way.  Bigger Than Beckham is my latest sexy contemporary romance, co-written with my husband under the pen name of VK Sykes. We will neither confirm nor deny that a certain soccer player perhaps served as a wee bit of inspiration, but our hero, Tony Branch, is definitely his own man.  And our fabulous cover artist certainly gave us a model to inspire any red-blooded woman, don’t you agree?  Just click on the cover photo for a bigger image of hunky goodness.

Whew!  I’m fanning myself here, but that cover is my idea of heating things up!  Bigger Than Beckham will heat you up for the holidays, too.  Trust me when I say that this is one steamy book.  To read an excerpt from Bigger Than Beckham, book three in our Philadelphia Patriots series of sports romances, please check out our website.  I think you’ll enjoy meeting the sexy Mr. Branch!

Readers, who would be your dream man for heating up the holidays?  Would you like to take a sleigh ride with Henry Cavill, go ice skating with David Beckham, or is snuggling with your honey by the fireside more your speed?  I’ll be giving away two prizes:

One person who comments will win a print copy of His Mistletoe Bride  and a lovely Christmas ornament.

One person who comments will win a digital copy of Bigger Than Beckham and a $10 Amazon gift card.

On The Road Again With The Ballroom Blog!

I’m visiting today with Katharine Ashe and the lovely ladies at the Ballroom Blog, all historical romance authors extraordinaire.  We’re gathering around the Wassail Bowl to talk about all the things we have to do to get ready for the holiday season.  Come join us – it’s a really fun place to hang out, and you might win a copy of His Mistletoe Bride!

Where I’ve Been

I’ve been a bit quiet here on the blog, for a very good reason.  Hubby and I were away at a writer’s conference and visiting friends in New York.  In fact, we had planned to spend yesterday in Manhattan.  Yeah, those plans changed pretty darn quickly and we high-tailed it out of there first thing Sunday morning, well in advance of Hurricane Sandy.  My thoughts and best wishes are with everyone affected by Sandy–hopefully that demon storm will blow itself out soon!

I do have lots of good things planned for the blog over the next few months.  In addition to my regular guests, I’ll be doing a weekly highlight of the fabulous authors of Rock*It ReadsRock*It Reads is the author collective I’m part of–we’re a group of traditionally published authors also branching out into indie publishing.  We’re committed to producing quality, exciting books and our authors include Pamela Clare, Bonnie Vanak, Monica Burns, and Mia Marlowe.  Stay turned to learn more about this talented group of women.

I’m also still celebrating the recent release of my holiday-themed historical romance, His Mistletoe Bride.  To carry on with that celebration well into the holiday season, I’ve banded together with three other historical romance authors.  Along with the fabulous Victoria Alexander, Theresa Romain, and Grace Burrowes, I’ll be hosting an all-day festive gala, Romancing the Holidays, on the romance blog The Romance Dish. We’ll be giving away prizes every hour, from 9 am to 9 pm ET. All four of us will be blogging throughout the day, talking about our books, the holiday season, and chatting with our readers. We’ll also be giving away some spectacular prizes throughout the day, including a grand prize basket featuring an ereader. Zounds! You do not want to miss that.  Dash on over to the Romancing the Holidays website for all the details and to sign up.

Sounds like crazy fun, doesn’t it?  But what’s even cooler is that we’ve included a fundraising component to the event.  We’ll be giving away baskets of books to a women’s shelter and a library, and we’re also encouraging our readers to make donations too.  Be sure to check out the Romancing the Holidays website for details and to sign up to participate.

See you back here on the blog!
