 VANESSA'S NEWS

OCTOBER 2011

I spent the last weekend of September in Atlanta, where I attended the Georgia Romance Writer’s Moonlight & Magnolias conference.  The M &M is one of the best romance writing conferences out there, with great workshops by authors like Donna MacMeans, fabulous keynote speakers (including Eloisa James and Karen White), and fun parties and dinners hosted by the lovely ladies (and gentlemen) of the Georgia chapter of the Romance Writers of America.

The Georgia chapter also sponsors the prestigious Maggie Awards, a contest that honors the best in both published and unpublished romance writing in any given year.  I’m very proud to say that my second book, Sex And The Single Earl, was nominated in the Best Historical Romance Category.

Sex and the Single Earl

And you know what?  I won the award!!  I’m so thrilled to announce that Sex And The Single Earl took the Maggie Medallion for Best Historical Romance of 2010.  It was such an honor to win, and it meant even more because so many of my writing friends attend this particular conference.  I can’t tell you how excited I was to be there with them for the announcement.  And to the members of the Georgia Romance Writers, thank you for the putting on such a fabulous conference!

In other news, as always my Regency historical romances are still in stores and available on-line, including my latest book, My Favorite Countess.  Please check out my Books Page for all the details and handy ordering links.  And please don’t forget to check out my VK Sykes website for info about the contemporary romances I write with my husband under that pen name.  Our latest book is Hardball, a sexy romance just perfect for a cool October afternoon, with a steaming cup of tea for company.

For all the latest info on what’s happening in my world, please check out my blogI also feature lots of great authors on my blog, and all of them like to sponsor giveaways of their books!  I have some wonderful writers coming on in the next few months including Susan Lyons, Cynthia Eden, Elisabeth Naughton, and Rebecca Zanetti.  You won’t want to miss any of that!

Have a great October, everyone.  Happy reading!
